Sandal Making Workshop with Rachel Corry (May 01. 9-4pm)
Sandal Making Workshop with Rachel Corry (May 01. 9-4pm)
Learn to make leather sandals for your own feet!
We’ll explore every step of the sandal-making process, starting off by customizing trusted patterns to suit your own feet and design preferences. Then we’ll cut and assemble natural vegetable tanned leather, paying close attention to fit. Next we’ll use shoe cement and brass nails to attach the layers to a foam-rubber sole that will mold beautifully to the curves of your feet over time. You'll leave the final class with your ready-to-wear sandals and they'll develop a darker patina as you wear them!
Simple sandal-making is a great way to get into DIY shoemaking of all kinds. After this workshop, you’ll be able to replicate the process at home, with only a few simple tools.
