Kate is a local artist who is a painter, calligrapher, illustrator, and two years ago, started making pottery.

Since selling her stationery shop, Getting it Write, Kate has made her living working from home: painting, doing commissions for hand lettered stationery, and working as Product Designer and Principal of her wholesale stationery company, Kate and Campbell. For the last 17 years, Kate has been a stationery vendor to American Greetings and UK Greetings.

In this Modern Calligraphy Workshop, Kate will teach us simple, calligraphic lettering techniques. She will teach us to use nib pens and dip ink, and will then focus the workshop on Faux Calligraphy (pictured here), for beautifully writing on everyday things like notes & envelopes, gift tags, kitchen chalk boards, menus…

You will take home a nib pen and dip ink set, a black, graphic design pen for creating your Faux Calligraphy, lettering sheets to practice with, and the stationery piece(s) you make during the workshop.

This workshop is being held on October 22nd, from 10-1, at Leslie Shewring’s beautiful studio in Fan Tan Alley. (17 ½ Fan Tan Alley, in Victoria’s Chinatown).

Cost is $95, and includes all materials.
